this... this is really awesome! It's nice and chill, and the chords are nice n smooth, as well as the synths. only problem is there's a teensy bit of dissonance, which actually adds a nice, odd atmosphere to it.

Kalviter responds:

I'm glad you like it! Not sure what you mean by dissonance though

Cool! I'd suggest some adjustment on the first synth, as the melody is pretty unclear.

In fact, most of the song is pretty chaotic and irrational, which is good in some cases, but in this song it doesn't really fit.

Also, there are some mixing issues, but they're pretty minimal at most points.

at 1:39 specifically, you can't really hear the synth at its lower frequencies very well, but idk what could fix that, aside from a higher pitch.

The only other criticism I have is it needs some atmospheric background, as it's pretty empty and unbalanced.

What VSTs do you currently have access to?

(sorry if this is super overwhelming)

The-Cockenator responds:

This is all toxic biohazard but ye that is beacuse the sidechain is really hard and the bassdrum is just reling the low end i will polish it when i have actually made the song structure worth finishing in the mean time i will just fiddle around

needs some mixing work, but overall this is really good (aside from the probable sytrus preset i think i hear).

Progresses really nicely, too.

OPFX responds:

I never mix, that might be my problem.

Honestly, I docked a star because this was a "GEOMETRY DASH SONG", since that's not really what ng is about...

Onto the actual song, it seems really empty, and the mixing needs a lot of work.

Some synths are cool, but most sound like presets.

Also, try adding some sort of bass, and try focusing more on rhythmic and melodic complexity.

CALIREP responds:

Thank you for you're honesty=) I will take this advice.

one question though.. you see i know presets aren't that good but how do you create you're own sound?

sounds really nice and calm. one thing i'd suggest is to make the sidechain just a bit more noticeable.
1:07 is my fave part, make more like this

everything's perfect -- except the bass frequencies get hard to hear at points. Still, love it!

Where'd you get your DPCM samples, and can I have them? They're really nice

work on your mixing. also it's literally like 3 instruments

the taikos fit in really well, surprisingly. It gives it a unique sound, definitely want to hear the full version. also love that massive plucky thing <3

Cursedsnake responds:
